Girls Gone Wild Founder Busted for Tax Evasion...Again

Joe Francis, the founder of the "Girls Gone Wild" video series, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of federal tax evasion in a Los Angeles court. The 35-year-old is accused of deducting more than 20 million dollars in bogus business expenses on his tax returns in 2002 and 2003.Francis was indicted last year by a federal grand jury in Reno, Nevada, but the case was transferred to LA in May. In March, he also pleaded no contest to child abuse and prostitution charges in Florida after he was jailed for 11 months on tax-related charges. Francis has built an empire by filming and marketing videos of young women in sexually provocative situations. Prosecutors say Francis could face 10 years prison and a half-a-million dollars in fines. If he's convicted. He's scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday and his trial is tentatively set for September 16th.

The opening of The Dark Knight this weekend fast developed into a perfect storm of pop culture zeitgeist across the nation. The storm culminated with The Dark Knight overtaking Spider-Man 3 for the number #1 spot as the highest grossing opening weekend ever. And what’s amazing is that in many ways, as our beloved Chicago is now firmly established as the Gotham of the young millennium, as its residents, we stood in the eye of this storm. I doubt the Chicago cityscape has ever been captured with such grandeur, beauty, and scale, and won’t again until Christopher Nolan shoots the third installment of his masterful resurrection of the Batman franchise.

"Lost," rebounding with a well-received season, joined "Mad Men" and "Damages" in the best-drama series category with six nominees, including "Boston Legal, "Dexter" and "House."...The Emmy Awards ceremony will be held Sept. 21 and broadcast on ABC.

One Ton of Marijuana Seized from Ship in Miami

Authorities in Miami said they seized 1,700 pounds of marijuana from a cargo ship in Miami...The pot was pulled from of a cargo ship docked at the Port of Miami over the weekend. Officials say the drugs are worth 1 point 7 million dollars --- but could have fetched up to 3 million if it had hit the streets.
