U.S.'s First ‘Underwater Wind Turbine' Installed in The Mississippi River

The nation's first commercial hydrokinetic turbine, which harnesses the power from moving water without the construction of a dam, has splashed into the waters of the Mississippi River near Hastings, Minnesota.

ST Engineering-Contract for Survey Vessel

Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) announced that its marine arm, Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd (ST Marine), has secured a S$30m contract to provide detailed design, construction and outfitting of a 228 ft seismic survey vessel for Swire Pacific Offshore Operations (Pte) Ltd (SPO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swire Pacific Limited. Deep sea explorers often compare what they do with space exploration, many times only superficially and rarely favorably to the space explorers, whom they believe get too much money. It is common for books on undersea exploration to include a throwaway comment about how we know far more about the surface of the Moon than the bottom of the ocean, or how more people have been into space, or on the Moon, than have reached the bottom of the sea.
