วันนี้เพิ่งอ่านบทความนึงจบ จาก Mix magazine ฉบับเดือนพฤษภาคม 2007 ใช้หัวเรื่องว่า Finding Your Oasis ที่มีเนื้อหาเขียนเกี่ยวกับความเครียดในการทำงานที่มีผลมาจาก technology การสื่อสาร ที่พัฒนาขึ้นมามากในยุคปัจจุบัน จนทำให้ทุกๆเวลาของเรากลายเป็นเวลางาน โดยเฉพาะกับการทำงานในแบบ freelance ที่แทบจะไม่สามารถ say no ได้เลยกับงานที่เขามา ช่วงแรกของบทความเขียนถึงปัญหาความเครียด ส่วนในช่วงหลังก็เขียนถึงวิธีการนำเอา technology นี่แหละกลับมาช่วยลดปัญหาความเครียด รวมถึงวิธีการอื่นๆ ใครสนใจก็เข้าไปอ่านดูครับ http://mixonline.com/basics/education/audio_finding_oasis/ I've just finished reading the article from Mix magazine May'07 issue, titled “Finding Your Oasis“. นิตยสาร Sound on Sound เริ่มทำ Podcast ออกมาได้สักระยะ น่าสนใจครับสำหรับคนสนใจด้าน audio ผมเพิ่งรู้จักเมื่อวานแล้วก็จัดการ subscripe ผ่าน iTunes ไปเรียบร้อย พร้อมทั้ง download เอาอันล่าสุดมาลองฟังแล้วด้วย ได้ความรู้ดีครับ แต่วิธีการนำเสนออาจจะไม่ค่อยทันสมัยสักเท่าไหร่ รูปแบบก็คล้ายๆกันในทุก episode ก็คือเริ่มต้นด้วยข่าว update ทั่วไป มีตอบคำถามจาก forum แล้วก็มียกเรื่องขึ้นมา discuss กัน เป็นภาษาอังกฤษที่เป็นลักษณะการพูดสนทนาปกติ ทำให้รู้สึกว่าเร็ว และฟังยากอยู่เหมือนกันสำหรับผม แต่ก็ถือเป็นการฝึกภาษาไปด้วย ————————————– Sound on Sound magazine produce their own podcast for a while. มี Blog เกิดใหม่ทุกวัน ซึ่งผมเองก็ไม่ทราบตัวเลขที่แน่นอน แต่ประมาณว่ามี Blog ทั่วโลกรวมกันน่าจะมากกว่าหลักร้อยล้าน ดังนั้นการจะขึ้น blog ใหม่นั้น หากมีแนวคิดที่แตกต่างและโดดเด่นนั้น จะเป็นการดีมาก มีไอเดียดี ๆ อยากแนะนำสำหรับใครที่อยากทำครับ เอามาดัดแปลง หรือเลียนแบบในเชิงสร้างสรรค์ก็น่าจะยังใช้ได้กับบ้านเราหรือในระดับอินเตอร์ แนวคิดแรกมาจาก Audio CookBook (http://audiocookbook.org/) Blog ที่มีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับเทคนิคในการออกแบบเสียง ที่น่าสนใจคือการที่ Blog จะทำการแนบเสียงตัวอย่างมากับ Blog ทุกวันให้ดาวน์โหลดไปเรียนรู้ และสามรถนำไปใช้งานต่อ��ายใต้ Creative Common อีกด้วย อีกแนวคิดหนึ่งมาจาก Audio Podcast ของ XLR8R (Subscribe (http://feeds.xlr8r.com/xlr8rmp3)) ที่นำเอา Live Set ของดีเจแต่ละคนมาให้ฟังกันจุใจ Podcast ในลักษณะนี้ เคยฟังมาหลายเว็บแล้วครับ (ถ้าจำ URL ได้เมื่อไร...

New way of PolyPink

ปล่อยให้ลังเลและไม่ค่อยแน่ใจมาสักพักใหญ่ๆ ผมคิดและก็ตัดสินใจว่าจะเปลี่ยนแนวทางของ Polypink.com ไปจากเดิม จากที่เริ่มต้นเขียน blog นี้ด้วยความสนใจในเรื่อง audio production และ audio technology ผลที่ได้ออกมาก็เป็นการเขียนถึงข่าวใหม่ๆที่เกี่ยวกับสิ่งที่ผมสนใจ จนทุกวันนี้ Polypink ก็ดูเป็นเวปข่าวไปแล้วในสายตาผม มาถึงตอนนี้ ตอนที่ข่าวใหม่ๆจะหาอ่านได้จากหลายๆแหล่งข่าวบน internet รวมถึงผมเริ่มรู้สึกแล้วว่าการเขียนในแบบเดิมนั้นกินเวลามาก ทำให้ผมต้องมานึกย้อนไปอีกทีว่าผมสนใจอะไร และอยากจะเขียนถึงอะไรกันแน Sound Design เป็นสิ่งที่ผมสนใจมากที่สุด แต่ไม่เคยมั่นใจเลยว่าจะทำได้ดีเพราะไม่ใช่คนที่มีพื้นฐานมาทางด้าน design ถึงตรงนี้ผมกำลังจะเริ่มนับ 1 ใหม่กับ sound design และจะใช้ blog นี้เขียนถึงสิ่งที่ผมสนใจ, ศึกษา และทดลอง นี่จะเป็นแนวทางใหม่ที่ Polypink.com จะเป็นไป คงจะตะกุกตะกักบ้างในช่วงแรกๆ แต่ผมคงค่อยๆว่ากันไป ใครที่ยังผ่านมาอ่าน blog นี้บ้าง ถ้ามีความเห็นก็อยากให้ช่วย comment กันไว้สักหน่อยจะขอบคุณมากครับ

เห็นทีแรกก็ยกให้เป็น blog ในดวงใจไปก่อนเลยด้วยแนวทางที่เน้นมาที่ sound design โดยเฉพาะ ผมยังไม่ได้เข้าไปรื้อค้นดูทั้งหมดว่าด้านในเขามีอะไรอยู่บ้าง แต่เท่าที่เห็นจากข่าวใน CreateDigitalMusic.com ว่ามีในส่วนของ “One Sound Every Day” ที่จะมีการ post เสียงให้ฟังกันทุกวัน โดยจะมีรายละเอียดบอกด้วยว่ามีที่มาที่ไปอย่างไร ช่วงนี้ทาง CreateDigitalMusic.com แนะนำแต่เวปดีๆทั้งนั้นเลย เจ๋งจริงๆ AudioCookbook.org became one of my favorite blog at first sight because its content is mainly about sound design. เป็นความสงสัยและอยากรู้อยากเห็นมาสักพักใหญ่ๆแล้ว ก็เลยไปตั้งกระทู้ไว้ใน patid.com ซะเลยว่า ถ้าไม่มี Steinberg Cubase4, Nuendo4 ให้ใช้กันแล้วเนี่ย ชาว PC จะเลือกใช้ DAW ตัวไหนทำงานกัน ต้องยอมรับก่อนเลยว่ากลุ่มผู้ใช้ software XXX มีอยู่พอสมควร และบน pc ตอนนี้ดูเหมือนว่า Steinberg จะมีกลุ่มผู้ใช้มากอยู่ จนถึงตอนนี้ก็ยังไม่มี Cubase4, Nuendo4 แบบใช้งานได้ออกมาให้เห็นกัน แน่นอนว่า version2 หรือ 3 ของทั้งสองโปรแกรมก็ยังทำงานตอบความต้องการได้ดีสำหรับหลายคน แต่ถ้าจนถึงเวลาที่ต้อง upgrade จริงๆ คำตอบจะเป็นอะไร : Audition, Sonar, Samplitude ฯลฯ สงสัยจัง ———————————————————————————- แฮ่ๆ เรื่องนี้ไม่แปลดีกว่า

11 free VST plugins

จาก AudioTuts.com ในชื่อหัวข้อว่า “11 Totally Free VST Synthesizers That Sound Great” เป็นการแนะนำ free VST plugin จำนวน 11 ตัวที่ได้ชื่อว่าเสียงดี ทุกตัวฟรีหมด ทุกตัวเป็น VST แต่ถ้าใครใช้ DAW ที่ไม่รองรับ VST ก็คงต้องเข้าไปดูกันเองในรายละเอียดของ plugin แต่ละตัวว่ามี format อื่นให้เลือกใช้หรือเปล่า

11 plug-ins ที่ว่านี่มีอะไรบ้าง คงต้องขอให้เข้าไปดูกันที่ AudioTuts.com มีบางตัวที่เคยทดลองใช้เองบ้าง หลายตัวเคยเห็นแต่ไม่เคยใช้ แล้วก็ยังมีบางตัวที่เพิ่งจะเคยรู้จัก ขาใหญ่ของฟรีอย่างเฮียโป้ (bZero, qwerty) อย่าลืมไปลองแล้วมาเล่ากันบ้างนะ

ที่เคยได้ลองมาก็มี Synth1 กับ Asynth โดย Synth1 นี่ได้แค่แตะๆหมุนไม่ได้เล่นอะไรเท่าไหร่ แต่ส่วน Asynth นี่กลายเป็นของประจำเครื่องไปแล้ว หมุนง่าย เสียงดี แล้วก็เคยเขียนถึงไปเมื่อนานมาแล้วด้วย

Check out what these 11 plugins are at AudioTuts. There're 2 of them those I used to tried; Synth1 and Asynth. I didn't use Synth1 that much, but Asynth is now a permanent weapon on my PC. I wrote about Asynth a year ago in this blog.

เคยพูดถึง Rax ไปบ้างในบทความ Review Apple Mainstage (http://www.passionsound.com/index.php?option=com_content task=view id=992 Itemid=106) ถึงแม้ว่า Rax จะไม่สามารถแจ้งเกิดได้ในช่วงเวลาที่ผ่านมา แต่ความหวังใหม่ก็บังเกิด เมื่อค่ายซอฟต์แวร์เด็ด ๆ อย่าง Audiofile Engineering ซื้อมาไว้ในอ้อมกอด และพยายามจะชุบชีวิตใหม่อีกครั้ง ลองชมวิดีโอชุดนี้ดูครับ แค่ Feature ของ Channel Strip นั้น เข้าใจง่ายแบบใช้ได้ทันที ซึ่งเป็นจุดเด่นของ AE อยู่แล้ว และถ้าทำราคาดี ๆ ก็น่าจะแจ้งเกิดได้สวย โดยเฉพาะนักดนตรีรุ่นใหม่ ๆ ที่ไม่ต้องการ Feature ระดับ Kore, Live, Mainstage ครับ รายละเอียดเพิ่มเติม CDM (http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/createdigitalmusic/~3/371245521/)

DSK RhodeZ : free Rhodes VST

DSK Music เป็นค่ายที่มีของฟรีปล่อยออกมาเยอะ แต่ผมก็ไม่เคยลองใช้เลย มาตัวนี้ที่ออกมาผมก็ยังไม่ได้ลองใช้อีกน่ะแหละ แต่คิดว่าอาจจะโหลดมาลองเร็วๆนี้ เพราะคราวนี้มันเป็น module เสียง Rhodes (ก็ชอบอ่ะ) มีแค่เป็น VST สำหรับ Windows นะครับ

Amp. envelope and micro-detuner.
HP/LP Filter.
3 Fx (Reverb, Flanger & Chorus)

DSK Music made a lot of free plugin, but I've never used them. The latest plugin from them is DSK RhodeZ, a Rhodes sound module. Maybe I'll try this one ('cause I like it). There's only VST format on Windows.

Antares Auto-Tune Evo (v6.0)

ดูเหมือนว่า Pitch correction software จะกลายมาเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นสำหรับ music production ในปัจจุบันแล้ว โดยมี Antares Auto-Tune และ Celemony Melodyne เป็นขาใหญ่ แต่ดูเหมือน Melodyne ขาจะใหญ่กว่าในช่วงหลังๆ Antares เลยต้องมีการปรับปรุงเปลี่ยนแปลงบ้าง โดยล่าสุดออก version 6 โดยเปลี่ยนชื่อเรียกเป็น Auto-Tune Evo ผมไม่ได้ใช้ software ประเภทนี้เลยคงไม่ม่ความเห็นอะไรให้นอกจากแค่ว่า หน้าตามันสวยดีนะ

It seems like pitch correction software becomes a necessary part of today's music production. Led by Antares Auto-Tune and Celemony Melodyne, (IMO Melodyne is a bit more popular). So Antares needs to change Auto-Tune in latest upgrade to version 6 and the result is Auto-Tune Evo. I don't use this kind of software, so I can't give any comments but its GUI is cool.

CreateDigitalMusic.com รวบรวมแหล่งข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับด้าน sound design บน internet มาให้ถึง 15 website บางอันผมก็เคยเข้าไปดูแล้ว แต่บางอันก็ไม่เคยรู้จักเลยด้วยซ้ำ ขอหยิบเอา website แรกที่เขาเขียนแนะนำไว้มาบอกต่อกัน

AudioTuts.com (มันแปลว่าอะไรอ่ะ) เรียกความสนใจผมได้มากด้วย 2 เหตุผล หนึ่งคือเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับ sound design ที่โดนใจผมมากอยู่แล้ว อีกเรื่องก็คือ design ของ website นี่แหละครับ โทนเขียว-น้ำตาล และ layout ที่ดูน่าอ่าน ใครสนใจด้าน sound design น่าจะ bookmark เอาไว้เลย เวปนี้เพิ่งเปิดมาได้แค่ 3 เดือน ขอให้ทำต่อไปนานๆ

CreateDigitalMusic.com gathers 15 websites those are knowledge resources for sound design. I've never known some of them before, such as the first one which I want to recommend.

AudioTuts.com (what does it mean?) interests me with 2 reasons. Firstly, its content is about sound design. And the design of this website is cool, green-brown theme color and easy-to-read layout. Those who are interested in sound design should bookmark this website. It's 3 months old, hope it'll last long.

เห็นทางทีมงาน Barcamp Bangkok 2 ออก VDO เจ๋งๆมาหลายตัวแล้วใน concept ที่ว่า “Do anything at Barcamp Bangkok 2″ อยากจะมีส่วนร่วมบ้าง ก็เลยทำอันนี้ขึ้นมาดู ห้ามติว่าเสียงเพี้ยนนะ sampling สดๆ ไม่มี pitch correction เลย

Inspired by all videos with the concept “do anything at Barcamp Bangkok 2″. so, I want to make my own vdo to participate this event. Please don't complain about the out-of-tuned sample. I sampled my own voice and process it without any pitch correction process. Check it out!
