NCAA proposes moving kickoffs to 35 (AP)

The NCAA football rules committee has proposed moving kickoffs from the 30-yard line to the 35 and to limit the running start by players on the kicking team to 5 yards as a way of keeping players safer. NCAA says its injury data indicates injuries during kickoffs occur more often than in other phases of the game.

Michigan AD: Night game unlikely in 2012 (AP)

Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon says the school isn't likely to set up another night football game at home next season. The Wolverines beat Notre Dame in a thrilling game under the lights last season in the first primetime game at Michigan Stadium. Ex-LSU RB pleads not guilty in sex case (AP)

Former LSU running back Charles Edward Scott has pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual battery of an 18-year-old woman last year. The 23-year-old Scott entered the plea Thursday. He was arrested in November on a count of simple rape. Ascension Parish Assistant District Attorney Robin O'Bannon filed a bill of information for the lesser charge of sexual battery on Monday.

Slive: BCS changes couple years away (AP)

Mike Slive helped propose the plus-one plan to find a national champion in football and says actual change remains a couple years away even if everyone can agree on changes to the Bowl Championship Series.
