Clay Aiken at the Mirasol Country Club

Every year before the Golfing for Inclusion event in Florida, Clay performs for the members of the Mirasol Country Club Clubhouse. Usually we hear little about the performance, but tonight the fans were fortunate that a member tweeted about the performance and posted a picture!

@Kuzmanator Soo Clay Aiken is going to be performing at the country club I'm eating dinner at tonight. This will be wierd.

@Kuzmanator @Canuck1949 A few old classics from the 50s! Only 3 songs but he sounds really great.

Clay Aiken Hints At Possible Tour

Clay has posted his latest blog on the public side of his site. Tour? Maybe. Or not. What do you think? Here is his blog!

Biting my tongue
As you all know.... holding my tongue is not one of my strongest qualities. It's been so tough to keep quiet on certain developments with regard to the album and all thats going on with it. Suffice it to say... we are almost finished with it and I LOVE it. I think you will too. These songs.. the arrangements.. these orchestrations are the most amazing I have ever gotten to record.

But ... how will you first hear it? Through the internet? In concert? On release day? One song at a time?

I can tell you this....that BIG news is coming very soon. And not "soon" as in the "soon" that you guys think I tend to subscribe to. Soon as in VERY soon.

You will want to be checking here EVERY day for the next several days or so. Big news! Big enough to through your lives and schedules and.. yes... maybe even your travel agents' schedules into a frenzy!

Speculate all you want. But... be ready. Things may start moving fast!

;-)

Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, blog, News, music

Fans will definitely not be disappointed!"
Then International Media posted this about the PBS special:

American Idol superstar alumni, NY Times best-selling author and TV personality Clay Aiken sings great romantic favorites in "Classic Memories".
Clay Aiken: Blogs An Update on Somalia

There's no question that years of civil war and a defunct central government has left much of this nation dangerously unstable. In fact, half the population of Somalia remains internally displaced and in a state of humanitarian emergency.

This tragic reality affects an estimated 3.6 million people, half of whom are children. Over 1.5 million are displaced as a result of conflict, largely between Islamic extremists and government forces. Not only is this population burdened by violence and instability, but also extreme poverty and recurrent food shortages.[...]
However, he informs us that there is hope for the future. Please continue reading here and consider contributing to helping the children in Somalia.

Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, UNICEF, Huffington Post, Somalia

Clay Aiken Responds to Allegations of Voter Fraud

Today, Clay Aiken responded to allegations that he was guilty of voter fraud. But before we get to that, I would like to give you a little background about what led up to this response.

On November 12, Clay blogged on his official fan site and among other things, happened to make this comment:

What happened to Wake County Schools?!?1 Now that i have a kid i am so much more invested and I am EXTREMELY disappointed that so many selfish idiots ran and won seats on the school board. i hope we can get rid of them as soon as possible before they ruin my school system. Idiots.
Obviously some strong feelings about an issue that meant a great deal to him. In retaliation, the Wake County Republican Party on Friday challenged Clay's vote in this fall's school board elections - going so far as to actually scheduling a hearing tomorrow in order to challenge his voting registration in Wake County. Do they do this for every resident whom they feel may not qualify to vote in the county?

In any case, here is Clay's response to all the hoopla:

Responding to foolishness
I’ve always considered Wake County “home.” Growing up here taught me values like looking beyond the color of another’s skin and speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves. I hold Wake County and its values dear.

Recently, I expressed my views and concern about the direction in which the newly elected members of the School Board propose to take Wake County schools. In a private blog, I stated strong opposition to the campaign rhetoric of the newly elected Board members. In response, the Wake County Republican Party has challenged my voter registration in Wake County.

It just goes to show the lengths to which some folks will go to silence an opposing view. I’ve remained registered at the permanent address that I’ve long used here in Wake County because I consider Raleigh home. While I believe my registration is perfectly valid, I’ve decided to change my registration from Wake County rather than get into a technical dispute.

But, rest assured, this attack on my voter registration will not silence me. I may not be able to effect change through my vote, but I will join other concerned citizens in speaking truth to those who would reverse decades of progress in Wake County schools. I stand by my opposition to policies that threaten to resegregate schools and eliminate diversity. These policies will not prepare children for the larger world.

Policies based on campaign rhetoric will leave behind the very children who need help the most. I urge the newly elected School Board members to consider the needs of all Wake County school children, not just a few. Wake County was a special place to grow up, and remains a great American community, because of its diversity, because of its progressive schools, because people take care of each other.

I urge the new board members to slow down, look beyond their own campaign agenda, and begin to govern responsibly with the needs of all children in mind. If they do not, the people of Wake County will hold them accountable. Regardless of my own voter registration, I will continue to speak up for all children of a place I will always consider home.

Help the National Inclusion Project win America's Giving Challenge!

The National Inclusion Project has posted on Facebook about their participation in America's Giving Challenge. Donate now and help them win $50,000! You do not have to be a member of Facebook to donate.
Our cause is in America's Giving Challenge—Let's win $50,000!
Hi everyone,

The National Inclusion Project just entered in America's Giving Challenge, which gives us a chance to win $50,000! To win, between now and November 7th we have to get the most donations to our cause (every person can donate once per day between 3pm and 2:59pm the next day and have it count as a unique donation). We can also win daily awards of $1,000 and $500 if we can get the most people to donate in any 24-hour period. The great thing about this Challenge is that it doesn't matter how much you give, but instead how much you do to encourage friends and family to get involved in our cause. We all need to come together and start promoting the cause if we want to win.

Each of us has tons of friends on Facebook who we can ask to donate to our cause. But let's think big too—can you put our cause in your email signature, can you throw a party and get people to donate through the cause when they enter, can you organize other people to go out and fundraise from all of their friends? As you reach out to your friends be sure to tell them why this cause matters to you. Now he thinks about inclusion every day. Including Samuel chronicles the Habib family's efforts to include Samuel in every facet of their lives. The film honestly portrays his family's hopes and struggles as well as the experiences of four other individuals with disabilities and their families. Including Samuel is a highly personal, passionately photographed film that captures the cultural and systemic barriers to inclusion.

HOST A FILM SCREENING PARTY!
The PBS Release of Including Samuel is a hallmark event for our mission of inclusion. Consider hosting a party for your friends and neighbors at your house or a larger venue that you have access to. This is a great opportunity to invite people who may not have a connection to inclusion yet in order to introduce to the concept and benefits.

Go to www.includingsamuel.com to:

Watch the film trailer.

Download the “Screening & Outreach Kit” with discussion questions, photos, templates for posters and invitations, and more.

Download free material from the ‘Resources’ section which features published research, curriculum and articles on inclusion, plus links to dozens of organizations.

Purchase the DVD. National Inclusion Project supporters and volunteers can receive a 10% discount off the individual DVD, and 20% off purchases of 6 DVDs or more, by using the coupon code IS10IP.

If you choose to host a party, please let us know so that we can send you information that you can hand out about the National Inclusion Project. If you organize a larger party as a community gathering, we will be happy to promote it by including it on our event calendar.

Thank you for your continued support!

Aron Hall
Director Services

National Inclusion Project
www.inclusionproject.org
104 TW Alexander Dr, Bldg 1
PO Box 110104
RTP, NC 27709

919-314-5540
Fax: 919-314-5541

Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, National Inclusion Project, Including Samuel, Dan Habib, CVS Caremark, PBS

Clay Aiken’s Foundation Becomes The National Inclusion Project

Here is the press release for the National Inclusion Project name change:
NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Chapel Hill, NC, United States, 08/20/2009 - Clay Aiken's foundation, which serves to bridge the gap between young people with special needs and the world around them, has announced that it's name has changed to The National Inclusion Project.

The National Inclusion Project, formerly The Bubel/Aiken Foundation, recently launched its new name and website at inclusionproject.org. The National Inclusion Project grew out of the relationship between Clay Aiken and Diane Bubel and Diane’s then 13-year-old son, Mike who had been diagnosed with autism. The bond between them grew strong as they shared a vision of a world where children like Mike could be fully immersed in society. They had both witnessed children with disabilities repeatedly turned away from activities opened to typical children.

“We are excited to launch the National Inclusion Project. From our inception, we have impacted the lives of children and families across the nation. Our new name will better suit our position as a national leader on inclusion as we continue to grow,” said Clay Aiken.

The Project is poised to continue to make an impact with thousands of children nationwide as well as raise the national consciousness about the need for and benefits of inclusion. In six years, the Project has worked with hundreds of programs, trained numerous staff members and leaders, and provided inclusive opportunities for over 20,000 children.

The National Inclusion Project is moving forward hand-in-hand with supporters, families, program providers, and other advocates to see the vision of full inclusion nationwide become a reality. Please join us in our push to make a difference in communities all over the country.

About National Inclusion Project
The National Inclusion Project (inclusionproject.org) serves to bridge the gap that exists between young people with special needs and the world around them. By providing services and financial assistance, the Project supports communities and programs in creating awareness and opportunities for full inclusion where barriers break and doors open. It is their goal to create an environment for children where inclusion is embraced.
Source: Newswire Today and LINK
Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, The National Inclusion Project, Bubel/Aiken Foundation, inclusion

Clay Aiken: National Inclusion Project

Clay Aiken and Diane Bubel have launched the new website for the National Inclusion Project (formerly known as "The Bubel/Aiken Foundation"). Go now to clayonline.com to hear Clay's message about the new site. And here is a direct link to the National Inclusion Project site.

Bubel/Aiken becomes National Inclusion Project
We are so proud to launch the National Inclusion Project. As our foundation grows, so does its impact. In order to better reach the ever growing goals we have for this foundation, we felt that a new name would better suit our position as a national leader on inclusion as well as recognize the Foundation's start and the efforts of its faithful supporters.

The National Inclusion Project is poised to continue to make an impact with thousands of children nationwide as well as raise the national consciousness about the need for and benefits of inclusion. We are excited beyond measure to see Clay's original "project" become one that so many people have invested time, energy, and dollars in to see doors opened for children who may have never gotten the opportunity to participate in life the way their peers do. The National Inclusion Project is moving forward hand-in-hand with supporters, families, program providers, and other advocates to see the vision of full inclusion nationwide become a reality. Please join us in our push to make a difference in communities all over the country.
Clay has also posted a public blog about the new name:

New day!
By now you've seen the new National Inclusion Project website and hopefully you are exploring it. One thing that you will come across as you are looking around is something that I am most excited about: the new Bubel/Aiken Founder's Award.

As the website states, it's an award that will be given for outstanding volunteer service to be given annually beginning with the 2009 Champions Gala on October 17, 2009. It was through grassroots volunteer efforts that the National Inclusion Project was started and it is through those efforts that we have been able to make such huge strides for inclusion nationwide.

The award will recognize a person or group who fully embraces the mission of the National Inclusion Project and makes an "above and beyond" effort to raise awareness and support year-round. The staff and Board will be choosing finalists from the nominations that YOU submit, and Diane and I will be selecting the winner personally each year from what I know will be a tremendous amount of qualified and deserving nominees.

You guys have been SOOOOO instrumental in making the organization as successful as it has been this past six years.. and we strongly feel it's important to recognize the folks who we all know have worked so hard. YOU!

Check out the new www.inclusionproject.org to learn about the nominating process and find the form to nominate yourself or other who you find deserving!

This news of the new website is very exciting for all of us.

(for those of you who were hoping for something different... sorry. Just be excited for this, and I promise we'll get you something else "soon"!)

c

Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, The National Inclusion Project, Diane Bubel, Bubel/Aiken Foundation,

Don't breathe in around me!

In debating the School Violence Prevention Act during a legislative session, NC General Assembly Minority Leader Skip Stam (R*-Wake) said that "explicitly protecting gay kids from bullying would lead to pedophilia and gay marriage," The man, who has obviously come unhinged from reality also argued that gay parents are "more dangerous than second-hand smoke."

I hope I haven't caused any health problems for any of you!

What a dumbass!

Do enough of you guys live in southern Wake County to help him lose his job next year?

c
So, will Perez Hilton or any of the other media pick this up like they do anything else about Clay, or will they ignore it because it is a thoughtful opinion about a serious subject?
Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, Skip Stam, gay, gay marriage, bullying

Clay Wishes Everyone a Happy Fourth of July!

Clay Aiken posted a new public blog on his fan site:

Let freedom ring!

Hi all.

I wanted to drop in and say Happy 4th to everyone. The weather in Raleigh is quite nice today. Hope wherever you are you;re able to enjoy the day and time with friends. In traveling for UNICEF these past four years, I've really been given a great opportunity to see first hand how fortunate we are in this country to have some of the rights we have. It makes celebrating the birth of our nation more poignant when I think about those in countries who don't have some of the basic freedoms that we take for granted. If you see a service man or woman today thank them for the role they play (or have played) in making sure that the dream and vision that our founding fathers had 233 years ago has stayed intact.

Hope your holiday is great.
Clay Aiken Was Not Dropped By The Bubel/Aiken Foundation

Recently there was a false rumor spread about Clay Aiken's standing with his own foundation. After the new name for the foundation was prematurely released, it was falsely presumed by a few that it meant that Clay Aiken was "dropped" by the foundation. However, the presumption was irrational at best since Clay is the foundation. He runs it. If he was "dropped" by it, he would have to drop himself. In any case, RadarOnline.com posted an exclusive statement from Jerry Aiken which clarifies the situation:

Only On Radar: Clay Aiken Not Nixed By Charity
Clay Aiken is not being axed by the charity he helped co-found despite internet rumors saying so, his uncle confirms to RadarOnline.com. The former American Idol star was supposedly being ditched by The B[a]ubel Aiken Foundation which recently filed papers to change their name to The National Inclusion Project.

“There have been a lot of rumors out there but Clay is very much still involved with this organization,” Jerry Aiken- who works for the charity- said. “Both he and co-founder Diane B[a]ubel will remain on the board of directors and they are committed to the charity. We are simply changing the name to simplify things to a name that represents more of what we are about.”

“A lot of people had problems pronouncing the previous name and hopefully the new title will help us with promoting our cause further. But Clay is still very much part of our future plans too.”

According to local records the foundation has registered themselves with the North Carolina Secretary Of State’s office under the new name The National Inclusion Project, Inc. The original foundation grew out of a relationship between Aiken and B[a]ubel whose son Michael B[a]ubel suffers from autism.
It is well known by the fans that Clay has been talking about the new name change for a long time and has been very enthusiastic about the change and even asked the fans for suggestions for the new name.

Congratulations to the Foundation on its new name and may it continue to be successful in promoting inclusion and bridging the gap that exists between young people with special needs and the world around them.

It is unfortunate that RadarOnline.com misspelled the name "Bubel".
Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, Bubel/Aiken Foundation, The National Inclusion Project, Jerry Aiken

Clay Aiken Blogs About The Media Response To His Statements About American Idol

Clay Aiken posted a blog yesterday in response to all the controversy his previous blog about American Idol stirred up. Here is the blog:

Wow! Such influence! ha ha

Who knew I had so much influence and that my words and opinion mattered so much to so many people!?!?! HA HA HA I’ll be the first to admit that my opinion is just that, only my opinion, but for as much as some of the bloggers seem to dislike me and care so little about my thoughts, they sure can waste a lot of their space on what I say! If only many of them took the time to pay attention to important things like the US economy and the welfare of the world’s children. But… nah… I could blog about that type of stuff anytime and most wouldn’t think twice, but let me say something that they can pick and choose quotes and misinterpret me… and it’s showtime! I never assumed my opinion mattered so much! I guess I may have been wrong.

That said, since my previous blog got dissected like a biology lab frog, i suppose I should clarify and even retract some of what I wrote.

I am sure that some were upset by my choice of words describing my opinion of a performance I heard from Adam Lambert. I hope no one actually believed that blood truly poured forth from my ears when I heard him. I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard. Any performer hopes that their music will appeal to all people, but no singer realistically expects it to. God knows, I am SURE there are PLENTY of people who can’t stand to hear me sing either. I wouldn’t dream of assuming that, and I am sure that far worse things have been said about my performances than I would even venture to type here. To me, that’s fine. I don’t expect unanimous, nor even majority support for my music. But, my guess is Adam doesn’t either. I would not venture to make judgements on the personality or demeanor of anyone I don’t know, so none of what I said in my previous blog was directed as a “slam” on Adam as a person. At the same time, I wouldn’t dream of slamming him as an entertainer. He does what he does, because he enjoys it, and he obviously has many fans who enjoy it as well. If what i said in my previous blog regarding my impression of a single performance from Adam upset or offended any of his fans, I expect that the mature ones will realize that it was simply a poorly worded metaphor describing my personal tastes. The only person I would really dream of apologizing to is Adam. And the irony is, if he’s smart he couldn’t give a crap what I think of his Ring of Fire performance. As an entertainer, Adam knows that one person’s opinion of one performance really matters a little less than zero, in the grand scheme of things. He could not have gotten on Idol (nor made it as far as he did) without an immense amount of talent. He surely doesn’t need my approval to know he has a gift. At the same time, he realizes that amazing talent doesn’t always equal universal appeal. (I could NEVER have the amount of skill and talent that ballet dancers have! that’s talent! But, I don’t particularly enjoy it!) I am sure that I will have plenty of opportunities in the coming years to hear Adam sing. I imagine he’ll be around for years to come. But in the meantime, I definitely don’t want to stoop to the level of so many negative freaks on the internet… so, I do apologize to Adam for my colorful (and negative) choice of words. I hope he can forgive me. I imagine he doesn’t give a damn! :-) God knows he shouldn’t. :-)

Now, for those of you who are able to comment on this…. lets take bets as to which bits and pieces of this blog will end up mass distributed. Be creative…. they don’t seem to care about punctuation or whether or not they use all of the words in a sentence… so, have fun…. ;-)

Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, American Idol, Adam Lambert, blog

Clay Aiken Blogs About American Idol

There has been quite a stir in the news over Clay Aiken's opinion about American Idol. Normally I wouldn't post one of his private blogs, but it has already been spread all over the internet. I decided to go ahead and post it because some sites chose to quote only parts of it and I think it is important that all his comments be read in context. So here is his blog. Enjoy!

Now that it's all over, and for the record.... I couldn't be happier about the way AI ended this year. I only turn the show on once a season, and only to see what the set looks like each year. This year, I happened to turn it during the minute that Adam Lambert was singing "Ring of Fire" and, at that moment, thought my ears would bleed. Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening! I wasn't really a fan and found myself surprised whenever folks told me that they liked him. Granted, I never saw another performance (and many folks who I trust said that he was great) but I can't imagine I would have enjoyed it. Just not my cup of tea at all. To each his own. I never saw Kris sing on the show, but whether he was good or not is really relative. It's usually a matter of taste, right? But Idol is not always a matter of musical taste only. It's about the person you like. From what little I saw, Kris seemed likable. (That's not to say that Adam isn't just as likable as anyone.. maybe more so... I don't know) When Ruben and I were standing next to each other every night (many years ago) you had two equally talented, equally unlikely, equally unpolished contestants.... so it really was a matter of taste as to who was voted for. While some may argue that one of us was hyped more than the other, I don't feel that was the case. However, this year, there was an obvious bias. Not even having watched the show, I can tell you that I was WELL aware of the bias from the judges as to who should win. In my opinion, that is awfully unattractive. I don't think I am alone.

In my opinion, it all often comes down to that last night of voting. Until the finale, folks are voting for the contestant that they want to see continue. But, I believe that on that last night, the dynamic changes. No longer forced to choose one person that they want to see win, the audience can effectively vote AGAINST the person that they don't want to see win. In the case of season two this might have happened. There may have been some folks who voted for myself or Ruben because they didn't like the other of us. I was the nerdy little girly boy who some didn't want to see win, so they may have voted for Ruben. I don't know. .. But again, I feel that Ruben and I were fairly matched. We both had our detractors and negatives, but I feel we were both very worthy of being on that stage in that moment, and either of us would have been worthy of winning. The show was different then, and folks made it in seasons 1-3 because they were "real" people who happened to sing/entertain well. But, somewhere along the way, AI stopped being about real people and started being about "fame" and "gloss"; It stopped being about the talented kid-next-door and started being about who was most marketable. (I don't think anyone would have argued in 2003 that Ruben or I were extremely marketable.) So, this year it was not like 2003. This year it all came down to two contestants so extremely different and mis-matched.... one that was so obviously the "favorite"... so hyped and polished and "ready for market"; who (accurately or inaccurately) came off to many as arrogant and superior ... and one kid who no one thought had a chance and (accurately or inaccurately) came off as humble and real.

In a battle between David and Goliath, my money is on David!

I think many voters got sick of being "told who to vote for". I think many were turned off by the blatant favoritism shown towards one contestant. Therefore, on that last night, they used their votes against a contestant that they were tired of hearing about and for the contestant who had been written off. And, at the same time, I think they voted AGAINST an American Idol that has, for four years now, been more about the slick productions and polished contestants than it has been about finding the raw talent that it did in its first three seasons.

Those votes for Kris were also votes to return the show to its roots of finding "real" contestants with undiscovered talent and giving them the chance to grow and shine. They were votes that said "we're tired of seeing contestants who already seem to know it all".

Will American Idol choose to listen to the resounding and clarion call that those voters gave them?.... "Enough with the pretention. More Rubens, more Clays, more Fantasias and Tamyras and Kellys please." My faith has always been in the voters. I think they have gotten it right every year (mine included). It's now up to American Idol to decide if it will finally REALLY listen to the folks that keep it on the air.
Frankly, I'm rather puzzled at all the commotion over his statements. It is not like he is saying anything that a lot of other people haven't also stated elsewhere.

Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, American Idol, Adam Lambert

Clay Aiken is Not on Twitter

Clay posted a public blog making it very clear that he does not twitter. So, if you think you are following Clay Aiken on Twitter, think again. You are not.

Clay and Kanye
05/14/09

"What do Clay Aiken and Kanye West have in common?" Sounds like the start of some kind of joke.... but it isn't.

CNN just did a story on someone posing as Kanye West on Twitter. Apparently, some losers think it's funny to pretend to be other people (sometimes famous people) online. This is not old news to us, as it's been happening to me for years. But it made me realize that I have not yet informed you of something that you probably already know.

I am NOT on Twitter. (In fact, i think the legalized stalking that Twitter seems to be used for so often is repulsive) I think Twitter is the devil. I know you probably realize this already... but.. if you think you're following me on Twitter (or anywhere other than this site) it's not me.

See ya tonight.

c

Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, Twitter

Clay Aiken Quotes Mother Teresa

Recently, Clay Aiken posted this quote on his blog and made it public.

Love This
05/12/09

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

~Mother Teresa
Just a guess, but I suspect that this is in response to the current rumors about Clay's recent visit to the American Idol set. In reality, he took his son to go visit some friends who work there. No more... no less. It was not a ploy to try to weasel his way on the show or to meet with the contestants. I don't know why it is so important to some "journalists" to make up these stories, but it really speaks to the sad state of journalism when they make up or blindly quote such fiction. Can't believe everything you read anymore.
Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, American Idol, Mother Teresa

Just You, Clay

Yesterday Clay Aiken initiated a question and answer session on his official fan club message board. It was quite exciting as he spent several hours answering all kinds of questions posed by the fans. And to top it off, he posted a blog giving the fans the ultimate gift... a new song! He has freely given us the song "Just You" that he recorded for the album "A Thousand Different Ways." Here is a quote from the blog:

[...] One question in particular got me (and Jaymes) to thinking. “Clay, will you ever record … Just You?”
Well folks… truth is.. . I did. Long ago. As a matter of fact It was one of the first songs we recorded for the album A Thousand Different Ways. It was recorded before the label asked me to do the album of cover love songs and before the budget was officially approved, so I actually paid for it myself. Then, as I recall, when the decision was made to do the cover album, the label opened a budget for the album, but it did not include reimbursing me for songs I had recorded that did not fit the concept. So, here I have had this song all along that, to my knowledge, I own the only copy of. What to do with it.. what to do? Well, this evening (with some encouragement from Jaymes) I decided…. let’s just give it to them. Why not? We do have plans (which we will tell you about eventually) to be back in the studio and record in the near future, but until then… you might as well get a bit of something you haven’t been able to hear in a while. “New” music.

Now… here’s the deal. I want to give it to you because you deserve it. You’ve stuck by me and been patient for a long time. But, also, I really have to give it to you. Since I didn’t write it or produce it, I can’t sell it to you… but I hate to encourage getting music for free. You all have always been SOOOO ethical when it has come to downloading music. I know my fans are probably some of the most scrupulous in the country and I believe that you never steal music. That said… We are gonna do this on the “honor system”… Go ahead…. download the song. It’s yours. Share it with your friends. It’s free. But… I want to make it count for someone… so let’s make it count for tens of thousands of children in the US with developmental disabilities If you can’t afford anything for it.. then don’t pay… but… if you can… I encourage you… I ask of you… that you make a donation to the Bubel/Aiken Foundation for how ever much you feel the song is worth. If you want to give $1… great. If you want to give $1000… GREAT… if you can only give $.05 … that’s fine too. It’s a tough time we’re living through nowadays, and non-profits are hurting more than ever as well. BAF (which will soon be known by a different name) has had amazing success in fulfilling it’s mission, and is embarking on a long term plan to continue including kids in every aspect of life. But, it will continue to need help from all of us in order to make that possible.

Consider this track a “charity recording” …. donate whatever you can or whatever you are willing to… and accept our thanks.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/g5wkm8

The song is for you…JUST YOU… from me.

c

And you can listen to it below:

And please show your appreciation for the gift by donating to the Bubel/Aiken Foundation.
Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, Just You

GLAAD Media Awards: Clay Aiken's Speech (video)

There is now video of Clay posted by GLAAD on their Youtube channel. Here is the video which includes the speeches by both Clay Aiken and Tyra Banks.

Also, there is video of a nice interview with both Clay and Tyra on the Insider website. It was interesting to learn from Tyra that Clay wrote his speech himself: Video: Tyra Banks' Award-Winning Night!
Technorati Tags: Clay Aiken, Tyra Banks, GLAAD

Clay Aiken and the Sir Robin Bear

Sir Robin and Sir Robin …………which one is the cutest, Clay Aiken or the bear?? Personally, I couldn’t vote on that one.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids is preparing for one of the most entertaining fund-raisers of the year: The Broadway Bears Auction. The event, scheduled for February 15th will be held at the B.B. King Blues Club.

The auction features cuddly, one-of-a-kind teddy bears. Some of the leading costume designers on Broadway outfit the bears in original, handmade costumes that represent memorable characters from the many plays and musicals from the past to the present.

This is the 12th year that the Broadway Bears have been auctioned off. The bears are so beautiful that 10 of them are housed at The Museum of The City of New York.

The North American Bear Company helps in this event by donating hundreds of bears that start out bare and become beautiful works of art.

Are you interested in the Sir Robin Bear?? If so, contact:

Memories

If you’re a fan of Clay Aiken, you have many opportunities to walk down memory lane. Today, January 23rd is a good day to look back and remember an unusual bit of “Clay History”.

On January 23, 2004, Clay made a guest appearance on the quirky comedy series, Ed. Starring Tom Cavanagh, the series was about a lawyer who ran his private practice out of a bowling alley. Clay made his television acting debut as a singing star when he popped up as himself on this episode. Clay’s hit song, The Way was featured on the program along with the older song, This Magic Moment.

Ed was produced by NBC Studios in association with Worldwide Pants, Inc. and Viacom Productions.

Clay Aiken Stars in Ed on TV

Although Clay Aiken has gone on to many successful opportunities in the entertainment field, he must look back at his first acting job with a smile. Ed and his troupe of friends gave Clay the chance to have some fun.

Would you like to see some highlights of Clay’s performance on Ed? Check out this YouTube:

All Of Us Can Help

I think celebrities have an obligation to the public to not just sing or act.

This quote by Clay Aiken was shown to be true today when Clay posted a blog in support of UNICEF and ONE.

According to their website, ONE is a grassroots campaign and advocacy organization backed by more than 2 million people from around the world and every walk of life. They are committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa.

Clay Aiken in Uganda

ONE believes the fight against poverty is not about charity, but about justice and equality. They are a part of a greater movement of people and organizations working to end poverty throughout the world.

Clay Aiken reported in his blog that he is asking President Barack Obama to support One and is asking us all to sign a petition to the president.

Please click on the link to read Clay’s message and if you agree, sign the petition.

http://www.one.org/blog/2009/01/22/believe-in-zero

Thank you, Clay, for your determination to make a difference in some way.

Netiquette – It's Our Responsibility

Which Clay Aiken fan board do you read?? Where do you post?? Do you post every day?? Do you search Google for current news on Clay?? If you are reading here, these are questions that you can probably answer easily.

Since his time on American Idol, Clay Aiken has had thousands of fans who have actively supported the man and his career on the internet. There are many active fan sites and even more active message boards. If you check Google today, you see that there are 241,112 blogs listed for Clay.

Like many of you, before I became a fan of Clay, I was unfamiliar with message boards, and fan sites and only used the internet for research purposes. The World Wide Web came into existence in 1989 so the rules for posting are still evolving.

Rick Langford, the founder of the Tahoe Mall, wrote an article about the importance of manners on the Internet. The article suggests that when you post it is a good idea to remember to be compassionate, insightful and willing to listen to others. He also reminds the reader to…. “Be pleasant, try to get along, and don’t give your opinion unless you are either asked for it or it seems otherwise appropriate.” I wish these rules could be posted at the top of every fan board. It would make each message board a bit friendlier and easier to use. (Mind Your Internet Manners)

An Internet forum or message board is the modern equivalent of a traditional bulletin board. It reaches people all over the world. Many people who participate in Clay Aiken Internet forums have build bonds with each other and true friendships have been made. Clay is lucky to have this family of fans and so are all those who participate.

Too Busy To Remember

Clay Aiken as Sir Robin

How did we let January 18th pass us by?? Were we too busy with holidays and Inaugural festivities?? How could we forget??? January 18th was an anniversary of sorts.

The audience arrived, the orchetra tuned up and the lights dimmed. Clay Aiken took the stage for the first time on Broadway. Playing the role of Sir Robin, Guard I, and Brother Maynard in the award winning musical, Spamalot, Clay sang, danced and acted……..all at the same time.

Mike Nichols, the director of Spamalot, said about his new star:

“Clay Aiken is amazing beyond that glorious voice. Turns out he is an excellent comic actor and a master of character. People will be surprised by his wide ranging talent…….This guy is not only a star, he is a lot more. We are lucky to get him for Spamalot.”

Clay went on to receive glowing reviews from the Broadway critics, the Broadway community and the Broadway audiences. Fans traveled from points all over the world to see the show and support Clay in his Broadway debut.

Aiken’s run on Broadway concluded on May 4th, but he returned in the fall for another 4 months of goofy humor and supreme silliness.

Clay made stage door appearances, signed Playbills, raised money for BroadwayCares and won the hearts of the Broadway world.

We don’t know what is next for Clay Aiken; however, January 18th will always be an anniversary to remember.

A Thoughtful Gesture

Fate stepped in Tuesday and changed the night for eleven very lucky ladies.

Severe weather forced the cancellation of the Celine Dion concert in Raleigh, North Carolina. The concert was part of an auction item at the Champions For Change Gala held in Raleigh last fall. So, ten fans had flown onto Raleigh and were ready to join Clay Aiken in a box for the concert.

Since the fans were all from out of town, scheduling was a big problem. Each one had flights scheduled for Wednesday and many had jobs and family obligations on Thursday. Anticipating this, the BAF and Clay put their heads together and quickly planned a beautiful dinner for the 10 ladies. Clay didn’t come alone. He was joined by Jaymes, Faye, Jerome, and Cheryl, who is Clay’s assistant.

One of the fans, Toni7babe said: “The dinner was excellent, the conversation and the company were even better…….things worked out better than we could ever imagine”. According to the ladies, they spent about three hours with Clay, his family and friends.

One of the original ladies, who was scheduled to attend, is in the hospital and was unable to be with the group. After being informed of this, Clay picked up the phone and called her to wish her well and let her know that she was missed. He asked her how she was feeling and the fan answered that she was feeling a whole lot better now.

Tonight, Clay Aiken did a thoughtful and loving gesture. Sometimes one telephone call tells you more about a person than 100 interviews on TV and the radio.

Celine Dion Concert Postponed

Courtesy of WRAL - Raleigh

It was just announced by the RBC Center in Raleigh that the Celine Dion concert, scheduled for tonight, has been postponed due to severe weather conditions.

This is the concert where Clay was to join 10 fans in a box for the concert. At the October Gala, TBAF auctioned off a night with Celine and Clay. The concert has been rescheduled for tomorrow night and it is assumed that Clay will be able to meet with the fans at that time.

Governor Perdue of North Carolina, declared a state of emergency as the roads are filled with snow and ice, making driving almost impossible and hazardous.

I am sure the fans are disappointed, but glad that everyone will stay safe from the inclement weather.

Washington, D.C. History

July 4, 2004

The eyes of the world are on Washington, D.C. as Barack Obama becomes the 44th President of the United States. Whatever ones political beliefs, we are seeing history in the making.

When I think of Washington D.C., I always remember the performance by Clay Aiken on July 4, 2004. The PBS Live From Washington, D.C. show was an extravaganza of music and fireworks.

Reality TV World interviewed Clay who said:

“It’s just a cooler opportunity to be in Washington, D.C., for the holiday with a big 110-piece orchestra.”

Clay sang “The Star Spangled Banner,” “God Bless the USA, and “Measure of a Man”. Even with the rainy weather, about half a million people attended the event.

Washington, D.C. is a beautiful city with a history that is filled with many memorable moments. January 20, 2009 is a day when the world is watching our capital city and seeing a moment of democracy at work.

Wrapping For Inclusion

Donation totals for Wrapping For Inclusion were announced today. Through the hard work and dedication of many people, $41,014.64 was raised for the Bubel/Aiken Foundation.

Wrapping For Inclusion is a nationwide awareness and fundraising campaign in which volunteers throughout the United States wrap holiday packages. The donated funds are then sent to the foundation to help it reach its goal of Inclusion for All Children.

From Bubel/Aiken Foundation

The Wrapping For Inclusion Program is a grassroots program that originated when fans of Clay Aiken wanted to help him raise money for his new foundation.

In the announcement of the money raised, the foundation said on it Web page:

“Thank you for joining with us and helping us to raise awareness and funds in 2008! Remember it is never too early to start thinking of 2009!”
