After surging to a 13-point lead early in the second half against Auburn, Mississippi State seemed to be on its way to a comfortable victory over the Tigers.

But that isn't the way things seem to be going for the Bulldogs recently.

Before their work was done, the Bulldogs were holding on for a 91-88 victory, a three-point margin that marked the fifth time in eight SEC games they have won by five points or fewer.

"We get a big lead, then sometimes we let it slip," senior guard Dee Bost said. "I am tired of playing close games."

In improving to 18-5 overall and 5-3 in the league, the Bulldogs moved into a tie with Vanderbilt for third place in the standings at the halfway point of the race.

They actually hold the tiebreaker by virtue of their victory...
