Obama Administration Official Visits MemPro

The U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce, John Fernandez, visited MemPro Ceramics Corporation in a tour of growing Akron businesses. He is the Administrator for the Economic Development Administration.

On the day immediately following President Obama’s State of the Union address, Secretary Fernandez visited MemPro’s pilot production facility at the Akron Global Business Accelerator. He was accompanied by Akron’s Deputy Mayor Robert Bowman, Accelerator general manager, Michael LeHere and about nine other business and government leaders. MemPro Vice President Seth Finley explained the production process for making high quality ceramic nanofibers, which the company markets under the nCeramic™ and nCATfiber™ brands.

Secretary Fernandez was interested to know the primary hurdles facing MemPro. CEO John Finley pointed to the challenges of raising capital in recent years as the company faces a major scale up of production to supply customers in the catalyst, energy and advanced materials industries. MemPro recently joined with other companies in Northeast Ohio interested in flexible electronics, another market for the company’s materials.

On January 11 MemPro announced an agreement with Sandia and Los Alamos national laboratories, which operate the Center for Integrated Nanotechnology in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This support from the U.S. Department of Energy supplements research funding provided since 2006 by The National Science Foundation.

MemPro Ceramics Corporation is a private company with operations in Colorado and Ohio. Investment information is available by contacting John Finley at investors@mempro.com.
